    HELP! it won't Go!!

After a complete rebuild of my 300TDI and overhaul of the GB and TC it won't start The problem is that although the wire going to the fuel cut off solenoid is showing 12+volts it will not activate the solenoid If I hot wire the solenoid it clicks in and it starts and it purrs beautifully
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Peter

G'day Pete - we're talking about a 130 manual or a Disco with an alarm?

    If the former...

You write that hot wiring the fuel cut-off is ok -

so if I understand that correctly the activation from the ignition isn't happening....

Does it have an alarm / immobiliser ?

Does the cut-off wire light up a 12v bulb when the ignition is turned ON ?

if not you may have accidently grounded it when live and killed a fuse

Yes 130 Manual and No it has neither alarm or immobiser and the wire will not power a 12v bulb?? So will start following the wiring back for some problem. Thanks Peter

Aah, a bad contact/connection/switch somewhere, it won't let current flow Pete but just makes a connection.

I've had this a number of times over the years on motor start relay contacts.

Your meter registers full voltage, but as soon as you apply a load (motor, solenoid coil, etc) it won't work as the faulty/burnt out contact won't support the full current draw.

    Angry

Thanks Rick, Went on another thorough search of the wiring and found an embarrassing thing the solenoid wire was tucked away and the oil pressure wire was connected instead must have been!!!
    Alls well now Peter
