I flew up to Newcastle yesterday and bought a 2008 130 dual cab. Drove down to Goulburn last night and then the 805km home from there today.
Very happy with it so far, although the tyres are as noisy as all get-out. It has 6 new Goodyear Wranglers on it, has been a long long time since I have driven such a noisy tyre.
I love the torque of the PUMA engine- 110km/hr regardless of all those big hills on the Hume. Still a quarter of a tank showing on the gauge after 805 km of pushing it fairly hard (wanted to get through Melbourne before the peak hour traffic- didn't make it!).
The vehicle has a huge aluminium lock-up box instead of a tray or tub- apparently cost about $15k to have built. It is 1800mm wide x 1800mm long, has way too much rear overhang for a lot of the high-country tracks, so one of the first things on the list is to have a tray built. The box will be excellent for outback trips though (definitely the biggest car boot I have ever had- including the Dodge Phoenix that I could sleep in stretched full length either way).
3 things on the short-term list are snorkel, cruise control and a tray.
With 2 Range Rovers to go on the market soon, I seem to be entering a new era.

805km on 3/4 tank does not sound standard. you may have a long range tank fitted.
Yep it's got a large aftermarket single tank, reportedly about 130L. Is badged' longRanger' apparently of Qld manufacture. I'll be interested to see how much it takes after today's trip; also hope to improve on that range with more conservative driving. I was pretty keen to make the miles today.

That canopy look likes it has a large rear overhang. Might be better on a single cab!
If you want some quiet tyres, get a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATRs. They are SOOOoooo much quieter than my previous Michelin ZXLs (or were they XZYs?). Score really well on off road test too.

The canopy does indeed have a huge rear overhang, this put me off when I first saw the ad for the vehicle but on further investigation there were a lot more factors in it's favour. The guy who had it is a squillionaire and has set up and maintained the vehicle with no regard to expense, best of everything everywhere. I'll put a relatively short tray on the thing straight away instead of that big box, a tray will be much more versatile for my everyday use. The box will be a boon for outback trips. Long-term plan is to build a tray-on style camper for it (or look out for a good second-hand one, not being in the squillionaire class myself).

						I'll give it some thought but not really wanting to sell the box at present, planning some long-service leave and a biggish trip next year and the rooftop tent on top of the big box will be good. I believe this box cost in excess of $10k to have built, all aluminium and powder coat. Perhaps you could PM me with an idea of what your friend would be thinking of paying, might help me consider whether to sell it cos it would depend what I could then put in it's place.
I've found a few issues with the car so far, most annoying is that the airlocker needs to come out and have new o-rings, just blows air straight out of the breather. Kicking myself for not flicking that switch before buying, might have knocked a grand off. Also the electrical accessories have not been wired to a standard that I'm happy with. Long experience has taught me to be very very fussy about how I route and protect electrical wiring, this has everything connected up correctly and good gear used, but the wiring is not well anchored and protected, some wires without conduit rubbing on metal body fittings, that kind of thing. Some tidying up required there.
Looks longer than 1800mm to me - but the angles can be deceiving. I have a 2.1m box on the back of my 130 - the tray on it when I got it was 1900 and I certainly never thought that was too long. Horses for courses.
