Where to get door striker shims?

I finally decided to fit my "X-Trouser - Defender Door Lock Striker Plates" tonight but found that doors wouldn't close - they kept on hitting the striker plate.

I packed out the spacer with some bits of cardboard to if that would work and it seemed to be successful but I was a more permanent fix.

So, where can I get some extra shims from? Are they even called shims because I've not had much luck finding what I'm looking for?

    Thanks in advance!

**Update: I found the part number. It is MWC3148 in case anyone else wants to know.

    From land Rover.

Believe it it not they have a part number.

Or there is always plenty under the carpet of Range Rover classics. Where I can just imagine the builders of the car just throw them over their shoulder when making the car.

I also had to pack my new drivers door striker out. I think I cut it out of a bit of aluminium. That said, the new x trouser strikers combined with a new genuine door latch, has made door closing a dream.

Thanks for the reply - but I think that part is a different one to the one I am after. The one I need is the same shape as the spacer (and the striker plate) except with slots for the bolts.

I think you might be referring to part # MUC7890 - available from karcraft.com.au for about $4 each.

    or here MUC7809 ANTI BURST STRIKER SPACER | Defender 1985>: Body/Fittings | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

That one shown in the above post is far thicker than an 'adjusting' shim. Mine are the same shape, but only about 1mm thick.

After a lot of looking I can confirm the part number is MWC3148 (and looks like this: MWC3148 DOOR STRIKER PACKING PLATE | Defender 1985>: Body/Fittings: Brackets/Fittings | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series)

In the end I decided that since these things cost a couple of quid each and I had no idea how many I'd actually need, I made ten out of plastic (using an old milk carton) and used them instead. They've done the job and cost nothing other than a few minutes with a Stanley knife.
