			130 Puma starter battery dead

Folks, my 2007 Defender starter battery has died so I need a replacement. I have looked at various forums and our search function but still a bit unclear on the best way to go. What do members recommend to replace the factory supplied battery?

 Cheers

 Boots

your battery is five years old so you have had a pretty good run......

a lot of guys seem to be buying CAT batteries, seem good value for money.......although replacing with the same sounds like a good idea as well considering 5 years service out of the first one

I've tried replacing my 110 battery with a yellow-top Optima Gell battery.

It j..u..s..t.. fits but the earth terminal touches the lid and you have to mod the clamp a bit. And, you have to make up your own holding bracket as the bottom of the Optima's don't have the standard ridge that the OEM battery has.

So there - if you are thinking of an Optima (which are great batteries) these are the 2 things you have to get past!

 Cheers
 David

Have a look at an Exide DIN 88.
I have one in another car and it seems the same as the battery in my Puma.

Hey Boots - if you are going to get a DIN 88 battery shop around on price. I was after one for my Mercedes S class, and Mercedes quoted $600 for a genuine one, or $290 for an aftermarket one.

Batteries online quoted me $220 for one.

Got an identical one with a BESCO label on it for $150 at my local battery shop. They guy who runs the shop said Besco and Century are the same inside (made in the same factory), just different labelling!
