About 10.4ltrs/100 from wive's 2.2 90. Probably nearer 11 if you take into account speedo inaccuracy. Not that bad for a brick. Interesting to see that I get 8.5 to 9 out of my 2.7 D4.
well the cheering and rejoicing has come to a stop. This fill, and I dint think I have done anything different, a bit more city this time. But 17 Lt/100 on the knocker. Must have bugged up somewhere with 9.7, because looking in the phone app "gas cubby" the time before that was 18.3.
It seems according to the app, when the car was new and on 7.5x16 I consistently returned 9.5 to 11.9. 10.5 became so regular I gave up because I thought the app was buggered. Now I run 255's its been returning 17 -18 but I have just started recording again.
I have noticed my car idles with a small serge, of about 100rpm or so. Cant say with certainty how long it's done this but I don't think it was there 20K km ago. Me thinks I'd be clutching at straws. I do believe however when the EGR was buggered it used considerably more fuel, though the dealer give me a blank look when I mentioned it.

2010 130 TDCi
Ouch.
Hope you get it sorted Jason.
The Tdi still averages 11.5 to 11.8l/100km with the 255/85's consistently, fully loaded and carrying ladders.
It just doesn't seem to alter, no matter how much I thrash it ?
Yeah, yeah, thrash and Tdi, hahaha, but the pump has been turned up as far as is safely possible.
The EGT's can rocket up to 750* on a climb if I keep the foot into it for long enough, and I can almost keep with unladen 3l turbo Loluxes up the range here and I'm hauling at least 500kg ATM in the back.
I've just come back from crossing the centre to Alice, then down to Kangaroo island and back across the Nulabour and my TDCi did everything from 10ltres per hundred to 14 per hundred.I was pushing into hard headwinds, hot also,my thermometer goes to 50 degree's Celsius and it topped out for 3 days straight and it did use fuel but cruising around Adelaide it got into the 10's and with no wind from Adelaide to Port Auguster it got 10's,across the bottom I had winds the whole way and fuel usage went up the whole way. Having collected my Defender in July last year I have meticulously recorded mileage and fuel. Last night after 12,900km I decided to input the notes into a spreadsheet and was horrified to find the average fuel economy over the distance is 12.98L per 100km. That includes town driving, a couple of trips to Adelaide (from Canberra), one of which was towing my Series III SWB, and a couple of family trips.
Tonight I will take the towing trip to Aelaide out and hope the figures look a little better.
the fuel eco gets better once the engine is run in...(30+ thou genrally)
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
My puma my10 110 was getting some pretty bad figures around the 12-14l/100k mark and I also was getting that small surge on idle. I used a few diesel fuel additives and this seems to have done the trick. Egr clean cycle is now quiet again and no more surges on idle. Fuel consumption ranges from 9.5-12l/100.
I'm guessing not only the egr was giving me troubles but possibly some carbon build up in the manifolds was bringing up my consumption.
Cheers,
Chris
The easiest way to get wildly inaccurate fuel consumption figures, apart from incorrect calculations, is to fill to a different level in the tank. On some vehicles, such as a cab/chassis it is very easy to do.
It makes the consumption leading up to the "short" fill look good and the next one look bad.
However, that doesn't help with your more serious problem.
