A little trailer icon appears when I use indicators???

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if this is normal, whenever I indicate left/right a little green trailer icon appears in the dash momentarily then disappears. Is this normal?

I have never noticed it before, and I had electric trailer brakes fitted this week and was thinking they may have wired something wrong. (Trailer brakes Red Arc)

    Vehicle My12 Deefer.

    Regards,

    Babs.

Yes it is normal, it is designed to indicate the trailer indicator system is working. If you connect a trailer it should flash in sequence with the direction indicator.

If it doesnt there is likely a blown globe on the trailer or a poor connection (or LED lamps that don't have sufficient resistance through the lamp).

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

because it'll be the next thing you notice, I'll add a little comment here. When you instal a bullbar with indicators mounted in it, the dash light will flash as if there was a trailer connected. The solution is to replace the bullbar indicator unit with a LED one, and the system will return to only the single initial flash on the dash.

Correct - I also replaced the bullbar globe with an LED globe a few months ago - all good now.

    Hi,
    some good thoughts here.
Mine comes on all the time since I put the tray on it, (D130 cab chassis).
I thought I had done something wrong with the wiring re taking only one tail and one brake light connection to a trailer plug used to connect the rear lights on the tray.
The comment on the bull bar causing the trailer indicator to show may be the symptom of perhaps the tray tail lights being a higher wattage to the original Land Rover lamps.
    cheers

Or fit a couple of relays,as TJM seem to do when they install a bullbar on a D2.The relays are mounted next to the battery.
