diff swap 85 county
hi everyone
im planning to remove my rear sals and install a maxi drive rear diff out of a 90 range rover.the rover diff has 4.11 centers, maxi locker, maxi axels, maxi drive flanges and diff housing has been braced.i know i need to fit a longer rear drive shaft because the rover diff is shorter.so im trying to find out how long to make the spacer for the rear drive shaft or if a later model defender (with out sals) drive shaft will fix my problem.
any info would be good
regards brett

Crazy man.
Keep the salisbury & fit a locker in it.
I hope your going to change the front diff too.
With a 4.1 in the back and a 3.54 in the front you will blow the center diff up in approximately 20 klm or 15 minutes, whichever comes first.

Im pretty sure Bill at Great Basin Rovers will do Sals R&P. You could also see the range of Dana 60 R&B, as I belive these will fit with a little help...
contact Ashcroft and ask them to make a Sals/D60 locker....the more that ask the better chance there is of it happening.
M R Automotive may be able to supply a MD locker for your sals.

just curious where did you originally get the 4.1 maxi front & rears.
sounds just like the RR front & back ends I put together for my old 90 hybrid
wonder where the rest of the car is, it had a 302W , C10 auto w lowstall & Nissan G60 xfer case held together with a Marks adaptor
