:) I recently fitted a HID kit from super cheap .. the 35watt H4 type and OMG the differance in light is amazing.. too damn amazing tho .. After having more than a few ppl flicking their heigh beams at me thinking Im using heigh beam and copping an earfull at a set of traffic lights Im looking at switching them to my spotties and going better quality globes in the mains. AAHHH well you live .. you learn .. then you buy a landy!!

I now have those Phillips in, they did make a difference and the light is whiter than originals, I'm very happy with the decision. And no complaints from oncoming traffic.Quote:

The way the HID globe puts out light is very different from halogen and the lens and reflector is NOT suitable and you will get lots of glare on low beam.
There is a Defender in my area that has or had one of these fitted and many times I've been severely annoyed with him when I'm coming the other way.
Anybody who really must have HID and is not 100% worried about legality, go have a look at www.hidplanet.com where there are plenty of examples of people doing it properly, by retrofitting a projector into their housing. Also a lot of info there on the emerging tech of LED.
Trouble with most LED setups is they are completely fugly....
Mark my words though, put those plug and play kits in and everybody will hate you and call you things you don't want to hear....
FWIW Narva, Philips and Osram now have +120 H4 globes.
And before we hear the usual "Narva is crap.." all the Narva H4 and H1 globes I've bought have been repackaged Osrams ;)
hey guys, if youre after HID's while maintaining legality, I believe I read that they would be legal with auto levelers and washers (which is the case in the saab I have)
However they would also be legal if you fitted a projector into it? is that right? because if so, I would look at getting the crystal headlamp lenses (so no flutes to throw the light around) and look at getting a set of morimoto conversion kits. They basically plug and play sans a little bit of trimming on the shroud to get it to sit flush in the headlamp housing.
In turn you get a high low beam projector with a crisp cutoff and no glare!! and they will still work with the manual headlamp level adjusters!!
They simply have the 'flutes' built into the reflector instead of the glass.Quote:

but with the projectors reflectors being in the bulb I suppose thats still better than the flutes being on the glass :D
Projectors bypass the flutes in the reflector but need unfluted glass.
Yes, Morimotos in crystal cut lights will work well.
As for legality, I'm pretty sure that here self
Leveling and washers is mandatory no matter what.
It works fine with manual levellers but not strictly legal.
