    No,I meant OEM
That just means that they aren't genuine, just like the OEM suspension bushes that don't last.

The rubber on a genuine windscreen seal feels different to the cheaper versions that I have found also.

im confused??? I thought OEM = Original Equipment Manufacture...so are you saying its made by the same company but not the same as genuine?

so who supplies the LR dealers? could it be the one I priced isnt "genuine'?

Wayne, where did/do you by a GENUINE windscreen rubber?

just rang Karcraft. $x +gst, $16.50 + gst freight. They could not tell me a brand, but they were NOT genuine. Of coarse they are not having any problems with them.....haha

Just rang BMI, $x+gst, $20+gst frieght. They say OEM but cant tell me manufacture.

Now if said company makes the one in the LR box and then the one in their own box, are they going to go to the trouble of injecting a different recipe of rubber into the mold???

Wayne, have you had a genuine and a OEM side by side for comparison?

    Serg

Yes basically, and we have the same problems with OEM suspension bushes that never last as long as GENUINE.
Sometimes this can be due to proprietary patents on materials etc.Sometimes I think that the manufacturer of the components try and cut a few corners and reduce costs and sell as an OEM part, and the cost cutting measures come back to bite them on the bum
If the part you ordered is in a genuine Land Rover box or bag, then it MUST be genuine. If not, then it may be OEM.
When it was mentioned to me about the windscreen rubbers, the windscreen guy didn't try and sell me one,he just told me to go and buy Genuine and see the difference. So I did,and while I never had them directly side by side,I did have a look abd feel of both, and the rubber in the Genuine seal was totally different, the seal wasn't as soft nor as black in colour,it felt more solid.
So I have no reason to believe this guy who fits them to the local RAAF vehicles would have any reason to make up stories,as he wasn't selling me a seal anyway.
The other place you find a lot of problems with OEM stuff on Land Rovers is with Brake caliper seals.....it always seems to be rubber products.....I guess rubber just isn't rubber
