    thanks for all the ideas, it looks like the visous coupling is not working, repairable? adjustable? any one know who has one in stock?

    thermostat

    checked the new thermostat and it didn't open til 100 degrees!!
    put the old one back in and running at 70 (80 up a long slow steep hill) with new radiator and viscous coupling.
    thanks again for all the advise, will return the thermostat and get a new one and test it before intalling.

    Waxstat ? (genuine) or something else ?
