Don't know if they can push it out any further. As far as I am aware the EC has refused to "grandfather" it any longer....... depends on their cut-off date. LR will just have to stop making them; period! Whether a compliant design is ready is another question.
New one must comply with all of the current EC regs. You know, full internal passenger protection, pedestrian protection, pre-determined crumple rate front and rear etc, etc.
FJ40 is probably a Toyota interpretation. Possibly the one to look at is "G" Wagen, and how Mercedes has achieved compliance...............but at what cost?
The ADF G Wagens, while it would be nice for them to comply with both ADRs and the EC rules, they don't have to. Those are "State" vehicles - comply where they can.
'nother thought - if the UK pull out of the EU then not necessarily bound by EC regs
