    Service checklist

Anyone got the service checklists for 2012 2.2 Defender.

Just coming up to my first official dealer service and would like to know what I should be getting.

I could have a look at what was done to mine (2011 model) for it's first service if you want.. but I am pretty sure it involved a complete oil change (which LR quoted about 4 times the price my Landy mechanic charged).. and the normal 'service' stuff plus a general check to make sure nothing had come loose etc..

Let me know if you want me to dig out the invoice..

My invoices don't give any info on what they actually did "for service", just a few usables ('s) listed.
Quite annoying really, I wouldn't mind a full list of all the jobs their supposed to do.

Okay I've dug out the invoice.. at the first service they

    • Changed the Engine oil and Filter
    • Topped up transfer case oil
    • Greased tailshaft
    • Check and tightened suspension
    • Checked air cleaner
    • Checked under bonnet, lights, tyres etc

    Parts and consumables used were

    • Filter-oil-DEF0 07>(gen L/R)
    • Wiper Blades
    • Oil (.5 Litres)
    • Valvoline Oil (7 Litres)

They also noted that the Rear Pinion Seal was leaking (which subsequently went back to L/R to be fixed about three times before it was properly fixed and that the passenger side door handle was coming loose which was also fixed under warranty)
Total cost was $284 (PS Land Rover quoted me over $1000 for this same service)

    Hope that helps...

Tell them that you want an itemised invoice.. L/R have done it for me - even on the warranty work where I haven't been charged..

Thanks Sue, but I'm just wondering, I'm now having my car serviced by a service centre, as opposed to the dealer, so i was just thinking how they get their info as to what to check for. The usual oils, filters etc are easy I guess for anyone, but what items do LR dealers check for? Do they have a special list they work from, and if so, is it available for us to obtain?

I know when I had an extended warranty service schedule for a Toyota I had years ago, the dealer did "the usuals", then when on a road trip, I had it serviced up in QLD somewhere. They asked me if I wanted a loan car for the day,, what, for a grease and oil?,,, then he told me that it would take them most of the day, to which he pulled out a computer read out (on that old blue and white A3 sheet). Four or five pages, every second line with a job listed.

The usual 45 minute job being done by the original dealer was then blasted and stopped as it was just a waste of time and money.

I'd like a similar listing for the Puma if I could get one, or all of the various schedules.
