I cannot agree more regarding <dealer name removed>. . Had numerous problems myself:
- unable to put things back together correctly after repairs
- spinning me BS about my mods affecting warranty [I know some things do affect warranty, not being stupid myself]
- accusing me of doing things to the car which I asked to be fixed
- missing items I asked to be done on the car
- not being able to schedule my service calls even with 4 weeks notice!!!
- and were down right rude
I have since gone to Trivett Alexandria and haven't looked back.
AULRO IS NOT THE PLACE TO WHINGE ABOUT DEALERS, REPAIRERS OR SOMEONE YOU THINK HAS WRONGED YOU.
Whilst you may think it a good thing to warn your mates about something or someone you feel has done you wrong, doing so in a public forum not only exposes you to possible legal action, it also exposes the system to such risks. there are dedicated sites on the net that specialise in that type of post, eg Not Good Enough - Australia's Customer Complaints Website :: Home , please use them. by all means praise those that do the right thing by you in the areas already provided.

I think we need to be aware of this rule as some of us (including me) are sailing close to the wind in this thread.

Mmmmm, I beg to differ. So you agree then we don't live in a Free country?
I really dont think you are breaking any law by telling your mates on a public forum how bad your treatment was at a certain dealer, and or expressing your opinion.
I get that you are trying not to step on anyones toes but really are we not soft enough as a country as it is, that we have to be silenced.
I specifically asked about this dealer because if they have a past history with bad service and workmanship then I want to know, hey its up to the dealer to keep their reputation up not us.
If there was a bad person in your neighbourhood or you had a bad experience with, would you not advertise to other parents to watch there children and to keep away, would you not mention the persons name. You would not be accusing them of anything you would be stating facts, and you are telling your friends your story.
So this is what the future looks like eg. - I had a problem with my (can't mention the name) so I took it to my local (can't mention the name) and (can't mention the name) lied to me about my problem, so I sort second opinion (can't mention the name) and they told me different, so I phoned (can't mention the name) and wrote a letter to (can't mention the name) and they told me to take it back to (can't mention the name). So anyway (can't mention the name) fixed the problem but left off all the bolts on my (can't mention the name) dash, and the original problem has just failed again because of (can't mention the name) negligence, it almost killed my family, so I just wanted to make sure you are aware of there practises so you can make your own informed decision like an adult on wether you would risk your families lives with (can't mention the name). But hey you go there anyways and find out for yourself because I can't mention the name so spend all your time and frustration, money, and risk your families lives as I can't mention the name.
"So Babs who is it that did all this to you"? Sorry its a secret, cant mention the name.
Seriously! I really don't think anyone will find themselves in any type of legal battle telling their mates on a public forum their experiences good or bad, if its the truth. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.
If however the forum was to gang up or whats the word? (to Conspire) against a certain dealer or organisation with intent to tarnish or ruin their reputation, which would in turn affect their trade, so on, then most definitely there would be grounds for legal action. But come on Silencing of the Lambs, Really!
If I want to find out what I am going to be treated like from real peoples experience, I will only get that here. The sights you mentioned above are going to be full blown gripes and defects, I want real peoples opinions on how they were treated at their dealers or ex-dealers, and why. I'm old enough to make my own decisions on who I will then take my pride and joy to. No one is asking to tarnish a certain dealer, they are all our real life experiences, as some have had bad reports others give good reports on the same, so everyone is treated and have different experiences with the same, but it is good to know what to look out for right????????
So I would say drop your guard a little and not worry about legalities too much, as you most certainly have not come close.
Now in saying all that, being my opinion and all, and being a free country and all, with freedom of speech and all. If it is your wish as the powers over this forum, that you still believe the forum is threatened by this thread then, I respect your/the forums wishes, take no offence to my comments they are not intended in that way, just shedding some light on how and who we are becoming, again no disrespect intended.
I heard on the news this week, I think Sweeden (don't quote me as I did not hear the full story) that equal rights has now taken one further step, Hairdressers can not charge different for men and women, and can not advertise mens cut or womens cut. REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:twisted::twist ed::twisted::twisted::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad : its RIDICULOUS!
Anyways interested to hear others opinions on this matter, curious if i'm the Lone Ranger and am out of place with my comments or not.
Hey i'm not shooting my mouth off(if thats what your intending) I just dont think we need to be silenced about facts people have experienced.
Again, there is no dis-respect in my comments. As far as you paying for people shooting there mouth off, mmm lets see who has the rights, I know i'm in an extremely high tax bracket, I think its safe to say I pay in a year a lot more than what most would pay in 10-15, kind of think I earned my rights as an Aussie:confused:
Not looking for a debate, just interested in others thoughts on the topic. You are welcome to PM me though.
And as the forum has its rules, im not looking to break them, and i'm a big boy i'll manage to comply, just a little silly if this comes up everytime something negative is said. Ying & Yang. :D
the defamation laws in AU are the problem.
forums have been and are being destroyed and shut down for just this sort of thing as we speak...
i am not going to risk years of peoples hard work time and info because you or anyone else wants frank and open discussion that names particular organisations on a public forum.
Getting back on track, do you mean who is best for service or best for warranty repairs? The best for service is the likes of Davis or Coopers and a few others around the place - all non dealers. You do not void your warranty by taking your Land Rover to a licensed mechanical workshop for regular servicing. Unfortunately, for warranty matters, you have to go to a dealer.
