    300tdi oil pressure?

At long last got my oil pressure sender in place and hooked up to the EMS.
What sort of numbers (psi) should I be seeing from my 300tdi?
Seems that the 1bar minimum is not low enough for idle, is this OK, or should I be concerned about the low pressure?

IIRC the book says 23psi hot @ idle (1.5 bar) but I reckon that was in a Pommy winter after only 10km running.

I only ever got around 15psi (1.1 bar) with brand new and correct clearance big ends and a new pressure relief valve spring in the oil pump.

If the idiot light on the dash isn't flashing you are fine, just remember a lot of 300Tdi's seem to require big end shells changed at around the 300,000km mark.

with just 5L in the sump and pistons that slap in the bores a tdi will run sub 5psi pressures and well still run ? AND the rollers / rocker gear et al will still be okay on strip down.

Im with Rick, oil pressure is a feel good measurement.

If the light is not on she will be right!

Having said that I have a VDO oil pressure gauge to fill in the hole where the clock was!

EMS pressure measures boost for moi!

Another vote for the oil pressure gauge to replace the clock. I must have put the gauge in at least 9 years ago now and have been scratching my head over oil pressure ever since. In '09 I gave it new oil pump rotors and relief valve spring and piston, last year in went some big end shells. Even running 20w60 the oil drops to a little over 10 psi at idle and relieves at a little over 30 after a vigourous highway run. Either the VDO gauge reads low or that's just how it is. Either way it's still going fine and certainly hasn't gotten any worse.

I have mine still connected! After installing it when I bought the 110 I gave the dealer a fairly hard time until we worked out it was normal! So now I just have it to scare the daylights out of passengers that see it!
Best was a mate I loaned it to shift stuff, Got a phone call to come and get him as it had broken Got there and he had just noticed the oil gauge sitting on 10psi at the lights! still pay out on him!
