Snorkel for 2012 Defender.

I can confirm about the Safari Snorkels.... Here is a couple of pics showing my 2013 110, picked up in early May. A week later here it is with a Safari Snorkel fitted by ARB Albury for a grand total of $550. When ARB asked what engine it had, the 2 choices they had on their books were Td4 or Td5, I said it was the Td4 and all was well!

I also had a safari snorkel fitter and sealed to my my12 at Ritter for about the same price as thejonoaffair, they didn't even ask whether it was a 2.2 or 2.4 same snorkel I think.

I am getting my new 110 done next week at Ritter and they are fitting a Mantec snorkel and I was told that they spend time on sealing this to achieve "waterproofing" status, that's what they say anyway. They are very well aware the Mantec is only a raised air intake so the reason they focusing on better seals.

Let you know next week with some photos.

They do a fantastic job of sealing I didn't even have to ask

Here are some pics of the Mantec "plastic jobby". It is nicely streamlined which means no additional wind noise, and almost no reduction in visibility from the right hand seat.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...13/06/1080.jpgI pulled my snorkel off and sealed the joins it wasn't difficult one join behind the base of the tower and another at the air box. I put some sealant around where the snorkel joins to the body work as well to help the rubber seal stick better. I think I will add a tube to the air box drain as mentioned earlier in this thread. I used black sikaflex to get all around the air box join I had to use a flexible tube over the nozzle and get the wife to pump while I held it in place. Some of the join can be reached from underneath.

Apologies if you already know, but you do realise that join is probably the least of your worries in terms of having an air tight snorkel system?

I sealed the air box join as well the one where you need a flexabile extension to get around. The lid of the airbox is a good tight fit and I have added rubber grease to the lip of the air cleaner element.

Nice work - you know there are three breathers in the system? One in the air filter box mount, one on the bottom of the air filter box where the duct enters and one on the bottom of the duct near the guard air box.

I use rubber grease on the filter seal too - every little bit helps!

+1 for nuggets sealed snorkel kit with Safari snorkel. I even noticed slight improvement in response once I ditched the factory plumbing from the airbox to guard with nuggets flexi pipe :D
