Thread: Puma Bump Stop Clearances

I asked my dealer to report for me. They used a 130 with an alloy tray fitted. They quoted 100F and 150R. When I had a look for myself I felt the front was 85 to 90.
I just so happen to be working at a clients house at the time who had just bought a 110. Again I'd say 85 to 90, and the rear was 125.

Be careful when looking for bump stop clearances,as it depends where the measurements are taken from,as the distance from the rear of the bump stop to the rear of the bump stop plate on the diff will be different to the front of the bump stop to the front of the bump stop plate,due to the rotation of the diff.This is why is is difficult when lifted suspension has been fitted because the diff rotates even more.I suggest you ask for measurements from the centre of the bumpstop plate on the diff to the centre of the bumpstop.

Thanks Wayne I had read this in another post, frankly with the variances in measurements I have been given it wouldn't matter where I measure from as there is over 25mm variance.

I have the stock spring measurements (from Gwynn Lewis) I was just hoping to have a comparative measurement to stock as a backup.

Take a trip down to the local Dealer and measure for yourself.Tell them you are just checking out the underneath before you will consider buying

I asked the some question a few months back, had a couple of replies -

IMHO it is not practical to accurately measure bump stop clearance.

Not only the for the reason lowranger gave but the suspension changes which occur on surfaces that are not dead flat and level (spring rates also influence these particular changes).

Then there is the difficulty of obtaining an accurate measurement.

If six people measured the same vehicle you would probably get six different measurement. If the same six did this 3 times each, but on 3 different days, you would might expect close to 18 different measurements.
