    TD5 Defender 110 3rd Row Seats

    Hi all,

So since i purchased the defender i have been working through some issues, not problems, i have been having.

Now i am 6' 3 and was pleasantly surprised when i could fit in the drivers seat without feeling squished, and feeling the need to install seat rail extensions. However for the people sitting behind me, it is a whole different story. Bitch, bitch bitch.... There's not enough room... Blah Blah Blah. I say tough

But, has anybody else come across this issue before? More importantly, has anybody fixed it?

The only way i can see in fixing this is to somehow move the 2nd row seats back a bit, which i would say is unlikely; Or install some 3rd row seats.

Now the defender didn't come with any, my model anyway, and there are no mounting holes back there. I have also been advised that, here in WA, unless fitted at the factory, it is illegal to fit inward facing seats. (may or may not be true)

So what options do i have? I would prefer to have two individual forward facing seats, but obviously will be limited to what is legal and available. I have read a thread on here about install the 3rd row from a jackaroo, but have not seen any pictures.

    thanks again.

Why would you want a third row of grizzling passengers ?

You could cut down the number - or length - of your friends...

Or have a closer look at moving the rear seat a few inches... Extended (fixed) mounting rails ?

    Re: TD5 Defender 110 3rd Row Seats

There's not much room in the middle row on a td5 if you have to have the front row seats all the way back. Its a bit better in a county and the puma, the middle row is mounted further back. I reckon with some engineering you could put a set of front row buckets in the middle and mount them further back. Would be expensive to get that certified though.

A set of troopy seats in the back would be a cheap but not very safe option.

I remember seeing a 110 County years ago with Recaro front seats, off topic you say, but wait . The original front seats and console were mounted in the rear and looked very comfortable, especially compared to the torture rack Land Rover gave us.

I have seen an article somewhere on the net where they installed Disco2 rear seats. Exmoor trim in the UK used to do an extension to move the second row seats back, but I can't find it on their website anymore.

The County 10 seaters had bracing as standard in the cargo area & this was a "L" shaped bracket - see pictures.
These were "dropped" with the defender & would have to be engineered if copied & installed in a Deefer I would think.
