you will be lucky to find a 300tdi for 10k with kms under 300k the odd one pops up but they are quite hard to find and normally snapped up quick or have something major wrong with them or not where you are

I currently own a D4 which I love to bits. Previously I had a 3-door D1, the vehicle which got me into Land Rovers.
I've decided I want a Deefer as a second vehicle. I'd like to set it up as a tourer and I'm thinking 130 HCPU, ideally 300 TDi as that's about where my budget is (~10k).
This budget seems reasonable according to both Redbook and Glasses Guide. However, I am seeing 20 year old defenders with >200,000km asking $22,000 and more.
I realise that as a general rule most of the vehicles one finds when searching on carsales are overpriced (otherwise they're gone in under a week for popular models) however I'm seeing similar pricing (though not quite as severe) on Gumtree.
Am I missing something here?
Ideally I would be able to find a 130 Twin Cab HCPU with <=250,000km and a full service history for circa $10k. Bonus points for one owner from new and/or from an LR enthusiast (and thus likely looked after).

A 130 is not really a city run around
Be prepared to drive for her!
7 years ago I bought my 130 from a farmer near Moruya (I was in Cairns at the time)
11k from memory - it had been ex-forestry then a farm hack for many years.
Rolled a couple of times, engine was dusted... you know a project!
But at that stage, ones with a service history and good condition were $25k plus.
I think if you really want a good one (remember mid nineties is now nearly 20 years old) you will have to be patient, travel for it and most likely stump up.
Having said that, they are a simple thing to work on, just buy a donga and spend some $ on it to get it up to speed.

I paid $15000 for my 130 DC over 10 years ago, guess it has held its value then. The high price is good for those of us who already have one. Once you get one it'll be good for you too.
I was too slow yesterday on a one owner 1995 130 dual cab with around 200k that was on carsales in Devenport for $7k. I didn't see it in the flesh, but looked to be a bargain for that money. Good luck to whoever snapped it up.
I paid $15,000 for mine just before Christmas from a car yard,2 owner car, winch, locker and 300,000ks and it's a 96model with complete service history, the car yard had $20,000 to start with
