Any Pumas with new crankers yet?

Folks - I've got the first Puma sold in Qld apparently....got Grover in September 2007...he's still going strong on the original Varta massive cranker battery...

Anyone had to replace their crank battery yet?

Nope. Still the original battery in mine too (December 2007). Still the original tyres as well (105,000km).

Yep I had to replace mine and mines at my10. I went away for a 6 month stint and left the battery connected. When I got back the battery never recovered.

Yep... Just replaced mine after 2.5 years.

Hard conditions though... 40+ degrees, corrugations everywhere and only being used about 3 days every month

About the only thing going for it was that the average trip was 500km each way.

I replaced the factory battery on my MY03 TD5 last year, at nearly ten years old, was still working fine, just tested out as a bit worn out. I have a winch - and this battery is used for that as well, so it's not been babied.

The crank battery on mine died towards the end of last year a few weeks after we came back from a 10,000km outback trip - dealer replaced it with a new one under warranty. It would not hold or take any charge - they said it was a dead cell.

No questions asked about the SC80 dual battery set-up etc.

the original crank battery from big red went into fozzy (no not a ford but the same n70 spec flooded cell battery), last time I tested it it was still just passing ok for the N70 spec but has probably sulphated up from neglect by now.

IMHO its the not in the engine bay position of them that does them a world of good.
