Hayman Reese Towbars to suit County

    Gday

I'd like to fit a Hayman Reese style towbar to my project Landy, which will have a 1988 chassis

I have the opportunity to get a very cheap but new, old stock Hayman Reese bar (Bar number R1974 to suit 1992-on Landrover) as stated to suit a 1992 Defender

Can anyone tell me the differences in the chassis, fuel tank etc? Will I have to modify anything?

    Thanks

    Jock

Pretty sure it should fit OK Jock.
I know that the fuel tank is the same for Counties and early defenders so I'm confident the chassis is the same back there.
AFAIK the rear crossmember is the same too. Don't think it changed until the mid 2000's.

Worst case if there was some minor difference It wouldn't be hard to sort out.
Definitely easier than fabricating one from scratch.

Yes should fit,but you lose you rear step. The one I fitted the main part of the bar( not the receiver) is almost flush with the cross member, others I have seen stick out a couple of inches.

How much are they worth JC?

Been meaning to drop those stubs off but haven't had a chance. I'll be down that way this weekend for a dive course at Taranna, I'll gave you a ring if I have time to duck into Hobart area

    sorry missed this thread!

can't remember the price now as i ordered the bull bar and towbar at the same time, and I also got a good $ reduction due to knowing the right people in the industry etc etc....

Sorry my memory isn't what it used to be

Ended up getting the Hayman Reese, from sitting it in place looks like I need an extra bolt hole in the chassis but that's easy fixed

And needs a respray due to sitting in stock for years
