Thanks to all those who posted - some excellent ideas there. I'll be taking the car down to see Daniel for an ex-Box as soon as I pick it up. I've got one on my current car and combined with a snorkel (not a RAI) it's a great "peace of mind" item, especially since the incident Quigley mentioned! I also have a bunch of protective items planned and I'm contemplating if I want chequer plate this time or not and the roof console is also being reconsidered. Bull bar, winch, one of Murray's wheel carriers, raised fuel breather, on board (hard wired) compressor, snow cowl, glove box, dual batteries, external power outlets (one of my favourite comping mods) and rear work lights are also planned.

Lorryman100 - looks great. An excellent list of improvements that have a subtle visual impact and really retain the factory look. The headlights look and sound intriguing... I like the Aerial - very practical as I have to put mine down when I go off road.

Do you have any photos? I'm really curious about the hand brake lever. Apparently the MY13 has a sub-woofer in the cubby box, so it will be interesting to see how much space it consumes.

Kelvin -do you have a photo? I've bought a pump, filter & cooler-style water tap and I'll be ordering a Front Runner 36 Litre water tank, but I haven't settled on placement of the tap.

the sub-woofer is attached to the back of the cubby box, so you loose no space. If however you change the cubby box you will need to make sure the woofer fits.
I too fitted the Mulgo rear door gas strut and the rear passenger door extensions minor mods but improve the comfort level.
    Cheers

I really like the vw relay for intermittent wipers. Makes a big difference when it's spitting rain.

Thanks. The headlights are nice and bright and more importantly they are a legal upgrade compared to HID's as they don't need an auto leveller or wash system retrofitted. They are expensive though, and in hindsight I would probably not have bought them as I previously had crystal headlights with PIAA bulbs fitted which were bright. The beam pattern of the LED's is very sharp with a visible cut off line and illuminate the road very well. The above pics didn't show the LED sidelights which come from a company called RDX and they are full LED and look like OEM.

I'd also been eyeing off the Entreq double DIN dash replacement, because I'd love to have the UHF and stereo mounted there. Other things are higher up the priority list though...

Best modifications? Difficult to choose, but probably long range tank (60l) and water tank (40l, under driver's feet). Also very useful, cruise control and central locking.

Hmmmm.... roof consoles! My current car has an outback roof console that houses my UHF that I was going to move across, but I've been contemplating the possibility of not installing it. The idea I'm toying with is mounting the iPad (or maybe an iPad mini) up above the rear vision mirror to give me a clear dashboard (because my current setup obscures the clock and the police don't like it much). That would leave me with the problem of where to put the UHF, so I'm thinking about either mounting it in the centre console somehow or selling it and getting a unit that has a separate head such as a GME TX3520W with the head mounted on the dash behind the clock and an external speaker flush mounted in the roof liner. So many good choices!

I can't escape the notion that I'm over thinking it all...
