2002 130 Bonnet latch wont release...

Hi everyone, just looking for some jedi tricks for an amateur in popping the hood of my 2002 130. When I try to pop the hood from inside the cabin I can hear a clicking sound, though it doesnt want to release the bonnet latch to all the goodies!

I did the usual thing if in doubt spray it with wd-40 and stabbed the bonnet latch with a flat screwdriver...lol obviously no good as I writing this post haha

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you

get some long nose pliers and poke through the grill to pull the bonnet cable near the catch

Try and force the bonnet left or right. My bonnet pops but then I have to force it to the left to release. The latching pin on the bonnet does not line up to the center of the hole on the ...... yeh that bit in the front of the car.

    Hope you get yours open.

    Cheers, Jurgens

+2 on the left right jiggle.

Mine I had to have someone pull the lever cable and hold it at full stretch whilst I jiggled and pulled up on the bonnet.

My cable had stretched over the years and turned into more of a bungee cord than a cable. I replaced it with a new one, easily done - pops it good!

You could try pushing down on the bonnet while somebody else pulls on the cable inside the vehicle.

Had the same drama with my 110 once I got it open, adjusted the stopers shorter by a couple of mm.

Hi , some good tips already , if they don't work you can always take the front grill off , if you look it's only held on by cross head screws , and sould come off easy , you will be able to access the catch from underneath, good luck ...

Thank you for the tips everyone...all sorted!

Thanks for the tips and advice from everyone. It was easily fixed with some extra hands on the bonnet and one in the cabin. Adjusted the tension on the bonnet release cable and adjusted the stoppers a little further out. Though it is looking like I will replace the bonnet cable as it is stretched a fair bit and the bonnet release lever looking like it is on its last legs...pretty bent up!

    Thanks again for the advice...
