Caltex 75/80 full syn is the way to go but hard to get the penrite is great
no cold notchiness cheers

Not 'correct' ?
Really ?

How long did you have it in for ? The FM's can take up to 800km to flush the old FM's out of the synchro faces and for the new ones to embed into them.

These boxes can be idiosyncratic too, what one likes another can have a problem or two with, but usually the choice is a few dodgy shifts when cold or gear and bearing rattle in summer under load, your call.
Personally the noise, rattle and general cacophony with a full syn 70W-80 and even a premium 75W-85 in the heat of summer had me looking elsewhere.

Oh, and Caltex/Texaco MTF94 is only a semi-synthetic, (as is the Penrite Transgear 75W-80)
Good luck trying to buy MTF94 in Oz after Caltex discontinued it. From my experience there are better MTF's out there

I'll shut up now, people would have coniptions at some of the brews I've run......
At the end of the day use whatever you're happy with, we all, use our cars differently.
