    Puma car alarm?

    Left the dog in the back for the first time and locked the truck as went into the gas station store. 2 minutes later was wondering who the dork was with the car alarm going off on the forecourt...

    Is the alarm standard? Is there a way to lock it without the motion sensor thing being armed?

    Cant help you with that at all. I didn't think they went off with "inside" movement. I haven't seen any "movement sensors in mine,, ( ) It just keeps going off when I happen to lock it and a doors open

    There is a funny looking black 'box' above the driver's side seatbelt that looks like it has some sort of sensors... I wonder if that is it. I will try sitting in it locked to see if I can replicate it... Now wondering if the guy queued behind me gave the 90 a bump...

    I know the Aussie Pumas don't have interior movement sensors (or iPod jack points for the stereo which was an irritating replacement), but I'm afraid I can't speak for the Kiwi models.

    My 08 Puma alarm did start behaving in a bit of a funky way at one point...going off on its own and so forth, but that was put down to a leak and a presence of water in a place it doesn't belong...around the alarm relay/ fuse/ electrical thing.

    So, it's worth considering if you've had a lot of rainfall recently. Water in the footwell might be an indicator but if it's dry that doesn't mean you have no water ingress...it just means you can't easily see where it is!

    I don't suppose the mutt felt like marking its territory while you weren't looking?

    LOL - she is a good girl and loved her first Landy ride (well Defender ride really).

    Had been raining buckets... when I get home I'll post a photo of the funny box I referred to... also mine is a UK import...no ipod jack either.

    The UK ones have movement sensors fitted and so does apparently the rest of the world to meet "Thatcham" security standards.

    Land Rover must feel Australia safe enough not to warrant it as it appears to be the only place they are not fitted...

    It's a simple plug in arrangement, but there was a thread a few years ago about the alarm/ immobiliser being managed by the ECU and whether it motion sensor would work on Australian models.

    As a dog owner I don't miss it. I can leave the sliding windows fully open and if anyone wants to say hello to the 50kg mastiff inside, they are welcome to...

    Thanks Lou - its probably not a bad thing to have but would be nice if you could switch it on and off. Lab not as effective as a Mastiff.
