    Running AV cable through D130 Puma Cab?

    Looking for some advice before I start pulling bits of dash out

    I want to run two AV cables from the rear of the tray on my dual cab puma up to the bottom of the drivers A pillar where I'm planning to mount a AV screen for reversing cameras. I also need to run power to the screen.

    Any tips on how/where to get the cabling up and through the cab would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    with my reversing camera I started at the rear outside of the L side chassis rail by running a bit of fencing wire back from just forward of the battery box as a pull through.

    A bit of fiddling then got the wire to run from the inside of the chassis rail near the rear of the battery box and up through a hole under the cubby box. (box unscrews and comes out)

    From under the box it went under the forward under the mat to near the fire wall.

    Undo the 2 flat plastic screws on the flap near the passengers knees and you can get your hand in under the plastic.

    Undo the two screws on the top of the dash infront of the driver, remove the cover, and feed a bit of fencing wire down to where you can get your hand in through the previously undone flap.

    Draw the wire up to infront of the driver, file a slot in the front of the flap so you don't pinch the wire and put it all back together.

    I covered all wire with some split conduit to protect it from chaffing.

    ps, I found the gps I had would not stick properly to the glass and was a bit heavy for the mount, it kept sagging on corrugations.
    I solved this by putting a piece of aluminium sheet under the R side screw of the cover infront of the driver and cable tied the mounting base to that. With the arm reversed on the gps mount the base of the gps unit rests on the dash and doesn't move about or 'wilt' on rough roads.

    I ran the video cable above the doors, in behind the roof lining, behind the trim next to the back window and down the strut behind the back seat. You could take it down the a-pillar to the camera if you go this way- my screen is on the visor, the power wires go down the a-pillar behind the plastic trim. You can pick up a reverse power signal from the engine loom near the heater tap.

    Thanks Austastar, thats a very detailed and handy set of instructions for getting the cables through. I was contemplating the same fixing method for the screen as you employed.

    Thanks also Pod - that is good alternative to the route through the dash. The only thing I'm not clear on, is where the leads exit the cab at the rear?

    I'll keep in mind both methods and see which suits my installation the best.

    If you remove the flap inside the vehicle under the passengers dash board you can easily feed cables through the large grommet in the firewall from the engine side. From here it's very easy to feed across under the dash with fencing wire.

    There is a grommet on the drivers side at the same position but its a pita compared to the ps.

    From there just run the cables along the chassis rail.

    I prefer to use a length of stiff plastic - no chance of shorting any electrical contacts!

    I drilled a hole through the lower part of the rear panel on the cab, sized to suit the grommet that came with my AV cable. It wasn't too painful as the previous owner had already had the air-line to the rear diff done the same way, as the compressor is in the cab under the rear seat.
