Having not seen the Puma EGR valve I prob shouldn't comment, but, I'd remove it, replace it with a straight pipe, but leave it cable tied in close proximity to its original location and plugged in... Computer wud think its still there! Put a pic of it up, I might learn something. The one on my Td5 is long gone!! :)
How do you remove and clean it? Where is it, in fact? Mine is quite noisy on shutdown so I'd be interested in cleaning it, but I'm wary of fiddling with it, not being very mechanically-minded.Quote:

Plenty of discussion on the above thread to start you off, Samblers posted some excellent pics of the removal of his EGR.
Cleaning is the easy bit. it's the access that's a pig. You really do need baby arms to get to a couple of the four bolts holding it in place.

I did indeed.
It ran perfectly well for quite a while with the chook rattle of death though, I wouldnt let it stop me using the car. Was blowing a little white smoke on start up though.
Cleaned and re-greased the EGR valve as per my thread and its still running quietly 1 year later.
If it dies (actually fails rather than is just noisy) then i'll have to take a decision on the BAS remap because its an expensive item to replace, but re-greasing is free.

I simply put a plate in my Ford Ranger puma and blocked it off. like the td5 it made a hell of a difference.
as is the same with LR's it is a finger busting temper stretching small job that is thouroughly worth the effort.
I don't know if any engine lights come up on the LR but they didn't on the Ranger.
