I have my compressor under the seat to keep the cable run short and switches by my right hand alongside the steering - see pic. I have plumbed an outlet for the compressor alongside of the passenger seat - drilled a hole and mounted it solid so I can plug in my air line. Better than on the outside as it stays nice and clean. Also have a 175amp Anderson plug hard wired there for jump starting and a C-Tek charger plug for battery charging/maintenance, so I dont have to lift the seat (a harder job in mine as I have aftermarket Sheel seats which need 2 allen bolts removed to then tilt it back to get at the batteries - fine for servicing)
