You ask for a map that suits your application and below is the list I sent to Pete at BAS:
60% of the time as an on/ off road tourer towing a trailer not exceeding 1.2 tonne.
20% of the time for recreational off roading - sand (beach and dunes), rocks/boulders and clayey mud.
20% of daily driving in traffic and motorway use.
What ever the process for mapping the car is, I got the modified file back and its perfect for my application.
Keeping my same driving style I've noticed the following:
1. Almost a liter less per 100 km on consumption.
2. No flat spot anywhere through the gear range.
3. A LOT more power on tap when on the open road - less time in the oncoming lane when overtaking
4. Engine running a lot cooler (cylinder head, coolant and EGT)
5. No issues (noise, rattle or squeak) from the EGR
The list goes on, but I'm not exerting the engine, riding the clutch, racing off at green lights or any of the things you can do with a normal map as well. I'd imagine I'm past the age where I want and need light to light drag power and performance.
My car's happier (smoother and quieter), I'm very happy with the drivability and in my book its an all round win.
Maybe its easier to damage the car if you want to do so, but I fail to see the point of the "opposers" in relation to the way I utilise the remapped car.
Cheers,
Lou
