    My first Defender

    Gday I'm Jake
My Dad has bought me a Land Rover. It is a 1994 Defender 300tdi. He got it for $2000 because it has a blown clutch and a bit of rust in the firewall. We are going to fix it.

We stripped the firewall, took out the floor and the gearbox.
When we took out the gearbox cross member we found lots of rust in it and the chassis so today we fixed it.

Tomorrow we are going to weld in new footwells in the firewall.

That looks like a good project, I'm sure you will learn some new skills along the way

Good to see the old truck pulling it home - usually it's the other way around!

    Thumbs up

Good job....looks frightening to me, but your Dad obviously knows what he's doing.
    Cheers, Pickles.

    Smile landy

Hi Jake, Looks like you and your dad will be having fun working on the defender. Nothing a set of tools and a mig welder can't fix mate.

    Thanks everyone.

Today we replaced the passenger side footwell. There is still a hole near the gearbox tunnel though so we are going to weld in a piece of angle line.

Tomorrow we will do the drivers side.

Welcome to the forum son. Good effort the last two days, it's interesting how much you have learnt already about measuring, marking, drilling (blunting bits), cutting, grinding, welding, sockets, imperial, metric, hammering, bashing, not giving up and last but not least safety!
