Question What is your "90" dash factory "Switch" layout?

We're in the process of working out a few options on our new "90", & I've been looking at various brochures etc to see where the switches are located for the various functions...driving lights, demisters etc etc, there seem to be no set location...they can be in differing positions?
Any thoughts, or pictures of your own swith positions?
    Thanks, Pickles.

    Pickles,

It would all depend on firstly your dealer options and the buttons they require. Winter pack sucks up two blanks with seat warmers for example and so does the dealer driving lights (although I wouldn't have minded that even though I would have changed the lights!). You are right though, they do seem to randomly move them around to suit.

The expensive dealer options are not that popular here in Oz and I think you might end up with a UK spec dash if you specify things like the winter pack pre-build, hence a completely different layout to the Australian brochure. (Keep that in mind when you order as it might add waiting time to your build).

I think the only ones that are 100% in the same place are the rockers for the electric windows!

I've not replaced any blanks yet, so if I get a chance I'll take and post a picture this evening.

    Cheers,

    lou

    Thumbs up

Thanks Lou....Mate, I don't think I'm going to ask "general" questions any more.....I'm going to come straight to you.
But seriously, I appreciate your input, because I don't know very much at all, so I do appreciate it.
Some of the brochures are different that's for sure....I think the Cold Climate switches for the heated seats are alongside the A/C control...maybe there's another for the heated screen......we've already been quoted 6 month's delivery?
We're actually going to the Dealer's this afternoon to see what we can sort out.
    Thanks, Pickles.

    Hi Pickles,

As long as you don't ask me anything about electrics or electronics I'll offer as much help and advice as possible. I've never been without a Defender 90 since 1997, so I've gotten to know them reasonably well...

I must however also admit that I've spent obscene amounts of money on restoring them, retro fitting bits to them and on the odd occasion realising I made the wrong choice! I have however had years of enjoyment and travel out of them with a reasonably respectable "bucket list" of places visited.

Won't claim the same on any other model of Land Rover or even Td5 Defender as I've never owned any of those long enough to warrant comment.

I think the newer owners would have more info on the build and waiting times, but I understand 3 to 4 months is about the norm. It would be interesting to see if they can bring it forward without the cold climate pack...

Back onto the switches, if I recall correctly from the UK spec vehicles you would be right about those two heated seat switches being on the lowest row either side of the A/C switch. The heated windscreen used to be on the top row next to the rear washer and wiper switches. I have however seen a couple 2013 vehicles where they have now started omitting the rear washer and wiper...? I suppose it will leave you extra blank switches for the future!

    Cheers,

    Lou
