    Non-genuine parts and warranty?

I'd like to do an intermediate service on my vehicle and my question is would using non-genuine parts cause warranty issues?

I've read that if you use parts that meet or exceed the manufactures specifications then your OK. Has anyone had experience with this in regards to Land Rover Aust?

I'm looking for items such as fuel/oil/air filters etc. Specifically, i've found these items on ebay and thought that they represent good value but not if they come at the cost of any potential warranty claim.

I've asked the seller if the parts meet or exceed LR's specs but I'm yet to get a reply.

iClick, I was told by a mechanic that your warranty is not void, or shouldn't cause any issues as long as the parts used are to Australian Standards, and if fitted by qualified mechanic. I have known people to not have any issues, although not directly with Land Rover. Middo.

I would use the genuine parts while under warranty, then the aftermarket stuff when out of warranty.

Just good insurance, and peace of mind.....

If you do have a warranty claim,it wouldn't look good with non genuine parts fitted, even though they are only service items, such as filters.

As Pat said, get the gen stuff from overseas if you want to save a few $.

I agree with the preceding posts.

Legally you would be covered, but do you really want to get into a fight with Land Rover over a $18 service kit? (Ok $110 if you do the big service as well...)

Duckworths is a dealer though and won't post to Australia, so I use a intermediary (father in-law) to repackage 2 or 3 sets when needed and post them on. Mine's out of warranty, but at those prices you might as well stay genuine...

    Cheers,

Thanks for the all advice. I must admit that I haven't called the local dealer for a price yet. I just went by the price on this eBay item which now looks like highway robbery! $65 dollars for a oil filter!?! Did I read that correctly?

I just assumed it was going to be even more expensive to source locally.

My wife just arrived in the UK for a three week vacation and has 20kg spare luggage allowance coming home. I might make use of that and consolidate some purchases whilst she's there.

I'll probably just do a 30k intermediate oil change and leave the other fluids until the scheduled service.
