    td5 stake nut ?

    good morning all
im changing from the dumb stake nut on my wheel bearings {to two nuts and lock tab} however ....i recall reading on here that there was a spacer that you remove , any ideas?
also id assume that after retrograding you would use the 300tdi specs re tightening bearings?
    any other tips?

The spacer goes between the 2 bearings... It should be fairly obvious when you take it apart. That is what is used to set the preload, as opposed to the 2 nuts.

As for setting it, yep just follow the earlier specs.

Personally I don't really see the point in changing it back. I have heard of very few cases where it has caused issues. in fact zero I think.

    thanks thats what i thought,
reason behind changung it is that i have no way to get near enough torque on it at home let alone on the road...... made my stripped cv n flange a mec trip rather than a fix at home thing. Also lets you check youre bearings without replacing the stake nut each time , just the lock tabs
    regards mark
