Question Broken headlight 2.2 Puma - fix or upgrade

Recently had a stone bust my Left hand headlight lens on my 2013 2.2 Puma. It's obviously not a sealed beam - light still goes.

Question 1 : How much should I expect to pay for a new lens? or do I have to get a whole assembly?

Question 2 : Should I just upgrade to something better while I'm at it... is it a good enough excuse? IF SO. What to get for a limited budget? Remembering I have no driving lights but don't do much night driving anyway and mostly it's just town driving I do at night.

Would I be correct in assuming that the PM678 - Wipac Crystal Halogen Headlamp Conversion Kit (pair) - left hand dip (UK and Australia) (from paddock spares)- is the original spec gear?

thanks for your help / ideas

Cant help you there mate, but after fitting a set of HID driving lights to the Tardis, the headlights now look not much brighter than a candle when I turn the HID's off. I would upgrade to something brighter as I am about to do, just have to find something.

    Cheers Ian

    Have you investigated this option?

    Headlight Kit info

Of course that doesn't fix the broken glass.

Havn't really touched anything yet... only had it for 2 months (6000kms)

Did however do a home-made version of that to my series LR! WOW it makes a big difference (well I added relays as well on it). Do modern defenders run relays? I would think that all cars would be....

    Hi debruiser,

As far as I can make out its STC1209 for both the left and right lenses on our RHD vehicles. If you can wait a week or so for delivery these are cheap enough for a temporary fix even...

Headlamp Rhd - STC1209 | Defender, Defender 2007 on | Land Rover | British Parts UK

Light Unit - Land Rover Part STC1209

    STC1209 | Light unit - RHD - from KA

    Cheers,

    Lou

last weekend I installed the traxide headlight wiring loom with a sealed 95/110w headlight upgrade. the difference is day from night. the old (1999 model TD5) lenses and globes were not much better than candles in a wind. I would expect the puma lights are better than my old lights but you will be happily surprised at the improvement in illumination.

picked up the lights off ebay. $105 delivered for the pair.

can't speak for HID, many others have proffered opinions on legality of a HID upgrade. then there is LED, if you have the money burning in your pocket.
