no recall notice for me on this either, though the bulletin repair was done on mine when it went in for what i suspected to be a warrnty job thinking this was my issue (my thread describes the woes that had nothing to do with this)

I have the 'updated hose' and it still seems awfully close :S

According to the dealer its still a 'bulletin' not a recall. . . might become a recall eventually I guess?

There's an updated hose and now for some vehicles you fit a new hose, an. air box bracket protecting strip and a bracket that bolts to the alternator that clamps onto the new hose. Only in specified vin ranges but if its worn a hole in the hose some dealers are fitting the whole lot

Oh and its not a recall.
It's a technical bulletin so vehicles are inspected during normal visits to the dealer or if a problem occurs. So You won't get a letter

DA428174 onwards. BUT if your in that vin range it doesn't mean you can just rock up at the dealer and demand it to be carried out. You have to have a hole or the pipe wearing to get the mod as some cars aren't rubbing at all, it depends how the car is used.

I had troubles with my turbo side hose clamp undoing, and whilst replacing the clamp I have noticed a slight rub from the steering uni joint thing.... Mine is a late 2012 model and has the spiral wire reinforcement... its loose, floppy, crap and should never have been there in the first place... once its got some heat into it, it has the structural integrity of cooked noodles.

Road side assist is all well and good, but I can bet my bottom dollar that mine would fail whilst towing a trailer.

Im thinking of replacing the hose myself, does anyone know of a silicone oem replacement?

Another update on mine, like other have said, now have the third version of the hose installed, with all the new brackets to hold the unit off the alternator.

With this bracket in place it also holds the hose off the steering shaft universal joint!

My service centre apologised and said they were about to call me in for the newer hose(version 3.0), since they had already installed version 2.0!

I recommend everyone to monitor their own truck. My driving was not unusual in any way. Some HWY, some city, and some 4WD!

The wire isn't meant to keep the hose stiff. It's to stop rubbing from any brief contact with the steering knuckle. An OEM silicone replacement won't make any difference other than taking longer to rub through. Your best bet is the bracket. Some 12my vehicles can have the update under warranty if rubbing is evident so visit your dealer and show them the rubbing
