    Most robust spare wheel carrier

I fitted an aftermarket spare wheel carrier a couple of years ago, and on the weekend, after some relatively serious off-road driving, the top tube cracked through letting the whole assembly flop about. This is in addition to a similar issue I had a year back with the bottom tube, which was welded to repair.

Now, not being a fan of anything unreliable, I wondered what folks had found to be the beat rear solution - particularly for large/heavy wheel tyre combos.

Which vehicle. For a Deefer check out Murray's stuff at Rijidij. He is on the forum. I thinks he makes them for Discos as well. Mine is bulletproof on my Defender.

    Hey

Dad had a very strong one fitted to his puma by some mob in sydney, all the weight was carried by the body on mounts both sides of the door, it still opened with the door and you could lock it in the open position which was very handy.

It did require 2 hands to hope the back door, but it was super strong.
I will find out who supplied and fitted it.
Had a quick look and i cant find any good pics of it.

    cheers

I and several others in the group I drive with have Rijidij carriers, everyone likes them, even those (well, particularly those) hanging 35" tyres from them. They have good auxilliary fittings too, the light pole, jack carrier, jerry can holder or the one I want next, a bike rack.

    Thumbs up

Definitely a fan of Rijidij - having spent considerable time checking out the market, I have one on my Defender and it's great. Functional, robust, easy to use, easy to install..

Gets a thumbs up from me

    Spare

It's not a Landrover unless you have a spare on the bonnet.
