Long range tank options for 2.2 130

I'm currently looking at long range tanks and it seems to come down to a choice between sill tanks or one that fills the box underneath the rear seats. Strangely, that under-seat box no longer has a removable lid - it's all just sealed up. The person who made the decision on that must be the same one who decided to delete the Salisbury diff. The one that goes under the rear seats gravity feeds into the main tank and therefore doesn't use any kind of pump. It's also a little bit cheaper. Capacity is 75 litres - similar to a sill tank I think. Good for weight distribution too. It would involve cutting the top off that box though, and then it would need some sort of cover. Anyway, I wondered whether people might be able to relate their experiences or share their knowledge on the subject to help me make a decision. I have genuine side steps - not sure whether sill tanks will be compatible with them.

Bit early to tell, but I have just had fitted 134L from Long Range Automotive. Only just filled it so no how's it going as yet. Will be taking it to the Desert next week, so should be a good test. By the way I have a plastic (supposedly) 80l under the tray. It hasn't taken any more than 50L so far and the brass fitting to the drain hose has spun up and now weeps, so I wouldn't recommend this style of aux tank.

    Cheers,
    Peter

Dolium used to have one that fitted into the front of the tub of a 130 that was about 150l. They don't have it on their web site anymore but it could be worth giving them a call if you are interested to see if it is still available.

If the setup of the box under the rear seats is the same as the td5 (albeit without the lid), you unbolt the whole box, place the tank on the floor, then fit the box over the top of the tank - the only cutting of the box is for the inlet/outlet, not to get the actual tank in.

I had a poly tank custom made for the space, and use a 12v pump to move the fuel into the main tank via a T into the filler neck. A lot cheaper, but nothing like 75lt capacity achieved, more like 40. I'm sure the real deal is worth paying for. Good use of that space.

I was wrong. The capacity is 62L.
