I'd think it would be unworkable on hill starts - unless you have arms like a gorillaBit too far away.
Hi one and all, am eagerly awaiting delivery of amy13 90, in the meantime has anyone relocated the handbrake to the "lefthand drive" position to give more legroom ? I had made a mod to my 2002 110 by using a rangerover lever and moving up next to the drivers sets by moving the cubby over towards the passenger seat. am thinking that a lefthand drive lever would be an easier option, it would still be "reachable" from driving seat and would look original. Any thoughts ? cheers

I agree with Iain_B, it's an awful long way to reach.... (and I have pretty long arms....)
Not worth it, you will get used to it being there.

If you were going to change it, install a Disco one between the seat and the cubby box.

If you did that where would you rest your left foot on long drives!
Carefully (use heat if you are scared) bend the lever inboard a little - makes a difference.
If you measure, there is actually more room in a defender foot well than a hilux or cruiser (proper one not them nancy fancy ones) It just seems weird when you look at it.

Andrew Richmond made and sell a bracket to move the lever into a comfortable position. About $30 from memory.
Simple and beats bending the lever as I had done previously.
Where do you purchase the hand brake bracket from Andrew Richmond

I drive LOTS of Defenders, and I ALWAYS forget that they don't have the park brake where mine is![]()
