    Cannot read ECU

    Hi all,

I have just installed an ex box and moved all my 2004 td5s brains inside. Now when I turn on ignition I get no glow plug light and no fuel pump noise, the engine does crank but no start!

I have plugged in my Nanocom and when i try to read faults it says it cannot read ECU.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Very similar thing happened to me. Started out as an intermittent fault, would all go back to normal after a few minutes. No one could see what was going on and no fault codes were being recorded. Eventually it wouldn't go and was towed to Wyatt's in Gero. They plugged in their computer, Cannot Read ECU. Bit of head scratching then they realised that the main ECU relay had worked loose. Pushed it back in, no more issues.
    Hope that helps,

    Tim

Thanks for the input, I have waggled all the relays to check the connections and all seem sound, but no joy.

Is there an easy way to tell which relay is which? And to test them?

    Cheers

Solved it, I think it was a bad earth on the earth that used to go to the floor of the under seat box. Have now got a good earth.

Where have others with an ex box run this earth to?
