    LRA replacement fuel tank

Has anyone else had their LRA tank pinhole leak where it is cut out around the left hand chassis rail? This would appear to an area that is susceptible to collecting dirt and moisture in an area that is difficult to spot and clean out properly. If it was designed to slope away to the rear with a larger gap below the chassis it would be fine.Rest of the tank is sound, have written to LRA, interesting to see if they comment.

How old is your tank? Are you talking about the 140L one?

Reason I ask, mine is the 140L one and is about 2 years old...

Mine isn't leaking yet and has seen most of what someone could throw at it

I have got the LRA 140, been in for about 4 years.

Got a few big dents underneath but no leaks anywhere or any signs of rust.

Received a reply from LRA nothing related to the clearance between the chassis and tank cut out.But useful to know that they do not use the normal rubber seal for the fuel pump, instead an O ring.Whilst I had the tank out,dug out the allen screws that hold the pump in and copper coated the threads ,ready for when the pump carks it!

My LRA 140l tank is in aMY03 and I've had it there since new 220,000k's now- so about 10 years old. I've always wondered how those chassis rails were doing down that gap - One day I'm sure the arse end is going to snap off because the rail rusted through. Very hard to clean down there - perhaps my only regret in getting the LRA 140l tank.

But apart from that the tank has no signs of rust and has not leaked.
