My Tdi developed a nasty knock

My Tdi has had a small knock for the past few weeks until tuesday when it got a big one, just shy of Southern Cross. She's been looseing power for a bit but she went to three cylinders and the knock got very bad, like a holed piston, anyway number three injector was spitting out diesel and number four was covered in soot so four injectors seals at 20 pence each from DLS Land Rover were fitted and I'm happy to say she's once again running sweet, doesn't sound like Puffing Billy and all her 72 dynoed ponnies are once again tearing up the black stuff. If you have a noise that sounds like a cracked piston, stuffed vacuum pump or too much advanced timing you might try spraying a bit of water at the injector bases as see if the seals are the problem. Hey Rick,Yep,usual leak between gearbox and Transfer,it's only been doing it for 10 years.I've cable tied a towel to the underside so it doesn't drip, you know that old saying about never buying a mechanics car. Pat
