Diesel alligator mmm you can get cheapies on ebay but I would stick with Denso the last one I bought I got from all 4 x 4

These are pretty good for the money http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Landrover...item20d12217a5

I bought a repair kit from Kits For Sale - RepairkitsUK | Starter Motor Repair Kits | Don't Buy a New Start Motor - Repair It a darn sight cheaper than a new alternator, if you can change an alternator you can change the bushes etc. Very easy and will save you a fortune as long as the rest of the starter motor is OK

Speak to them though as the website is aimed at starters.

I was told by an Auto Electrician friend that the Denso Alternator on the TD5 is really not worth doing up.
Apart from a new set of brushes and a regulator the rest is pretty well throw away material.
Its all dependent upon the mode of failure I guess.

At the risk of asking a silly question, why do you need a new one?

The bit that normally fails on them is a $50 part off eBay. Easily repairable at home.
