Oh how I laughed. I love the "frank-ness".

Problem is you'll only be able to hear how much better it is with the engine switched off.
I considered changing mine but it works well enough for the noise level in a Defender.......

I know there are many contributing factors, but I actually found this not to be the case. The original radio and speakers were very "muffled", which seemed to be drowned out worse by the engine and road noise compared to the crisper, clearer sound that the newer system I installed gave. This was in a single cab, so as I said that could be a very different case to other body styles, what you have between the front seats (seat, box, etc), or levels of insulation, etc.

I got the code but its four digits and they said you just enter it... mine appears to be 3 digits, with a 1 in the left hand corner it wants the first digit, then a 2 appears,, think its going in the bin.

what is the easiest way to remove it as i don't have the correct tools/key?

Don't throw it away, I'll send you the postage......

When you turn it on a '1' appears in the display.
Via the 6 preset buttons enter the 4 digit code. As each number is entered, the number will be displayed in the LCD.
Then after a few seconds, hey presto the radio comes on.

If you enter incorrectly a '2' appears in the display. Do it incorrectly again and a '3' appears. Incorrectly again and '---' appears. You now have to leave the radio powered up for 1 hour before you can try again.

    Best of luck.
