IMO spend the extra money and just get wolf rims. They look the goods and you wont ever need worry if your rims will support your load. Ive shattered an alloy before, it almost seemed too easy
Disco rims fit fine on the 130
They are plenty strong and suit 255s perfectly
Some even go to 285s
Many people beat on these rims harder than you will judging from your posts, no offense meant. I've used 2 sets, one offset 20mm and one set reversed on 255s Q78s 35" simex jts without problems.
There is some homework being done ATM with putting disco rims on 130 centers which would look good IMO.

Thanks for all the help guys - but it looks like 8 tubeless wolf rims have popped up now that I may go for.
POD if I get them I will be happy to sell my 6 current tubed wolfs.
Just run the tubed 130 HD rims tubeless and save yourself some money.
The tyre won't roll off the bead, the beads are very wide and in the event of a sudden puncture/deflation a tube tyre rolls clean off the rim, a tube doesn't save anything and just makes the tyre run too hot and you end up welding tubes to tyre carcasses.
Ask me how I know.
Plenty have run the 130 rims like that for a very, very long time without issue.....![]()
Beat me too it Rick - twill be fine running them tubeless.
BUT if you do change up to disco rims..
ps: vague recollection is a disco 7" steel is rated to 1270kg per rim offset is 33mm
a defender heavy duty / 130 / Wolf 6.5" is rated to 1350kg per rim offset is 20.5mm
As ben says despite the rating the disco 7s are structurally heavier than 6.5s despite the load rating stamped on the side. And anyways at 1270 you still have an axle load rating of 2500 which should just about be okay

The HD (holey, or 'Wolf') 130 rims are rated at some insane maximum load like 2200kg but I agree, the Disco ones are fine.
The load rating is on the forum somewhere, I think I've even posted it up.
A friend is after a set for hubbies 110 ute ATM after I suggested them, so if anyone knows of a set in NSW going cheap......
The offset is different between d1 steel and 2002 era alloys , when I changed I read in the good oil that the d1’s add a bit to the turning circle but I’ve not noticed it....I just felt safer on steel when out 100’s of miles from anywhere .it was near impossible to get a tire of an alloy , and just a hideous job to get a d1 tire off.
Look for a thread on rims in either the good oil or tec thread, it lists the offsets/weight etc
Have fun

This has been discussed before.
I once measured my 130 rims and a set of D1 rims.
The metal thickness is the same on both. That's the rim and the wheel centre.
The early 130 rims are rivetted, later are welded, same as the D1.
I don't know whats so different in strength between them.
The D1 wheels do have a different offset though.

Peter - I've had a rim fettish over the years and have accumulated more than I know what to do with. Send me a PM with what you're after ... I may have something a bit closer to home. I have perentie rims + a set of early 130 rims (no hole) that I had blasted and powercoated years ago that I've never fitted. I still have that HF whip here for you too! Goods for services (ie. HF bullbar bracket fabrication) trade still on? How much time you got on your hands these days???
