Mine doesn't stick out any further than the original.
I've not measured it but it feels the same.

Can you remember whose boss kit you used ?

I'm trying to get a QT fine spline one ATM but everyone wants obscene money for freight

    I bought it on eBay.
    It wasn't a qt product.
Pretty sure it looks like it is sourced from China but it is of a reasonable quality.

Do an ebay search on ebay uk site under landrover defender boss kit. The sellers name is lincetrading. They have both the 48 and 36 spline kits. I got the 36 spline for my td5. You'll have to email them fora freight cost. Pretty sure I landed it for around 60 bucks.

I'd normally put the link up but I'm using my phone and can't work out how to do it.

    Hope this helps

i bought the moto lita style one from pdt010[dls]ebay.uk and turned it down to suit so the wheel is in the standard flush to shroud position

Here are a couple of photos of my sports steering wheel.
Hopefully it gives you a good idea of the vision you have of the gauges and the side view of boss kit.

    Sorry about delay.

Just ordered the boss kit from Dirk of LandroverTuning and should be coming this week. I just need to select a SAAS wheel and get it done. Will post some photos once done.
    Cheers
