Don't worry, it's not a problem. I bought my car with 110.000 km on it, and 10.000 km after, I learnt my car have 2 filters. The first owner didn't know it either, so it went for 120.000 km in the original one (nevr saw a dealer).... now it have 216.000 km and going really strong, no fumes or problems

I went from 11.8 to 10.5 upgrading my ECU (before MSB, now NNN). In my case the improvement was due to the fuel maps using A/C, the MSB is really dumb with this.... both consumptions are with A/C 110 TD5 MY 99

Probably better to think of it as how much less wear on the motor there would have been had it been changed. IMO it wont have wrecked your motor nor significantly harmed it. The standard cartridge filter, if changed regularly, is adequate filtration, the rotor filter cleans up the really small particles. AFAIK filtration on a TD5 is near to, if not, overkill. It is very good indeed. Without the rotor filter it is good. I wouldn't be overly concerned. Disappointed yes, overly concerned, no.

Now you are going to change it don't over tighten the bolts that hold the cover on as this can potentially have a very real detrimental affect on the engine.

I have cut open several centrifugal filters after the 20k km service, and one that did 40k km.
All had about the same thickness if sediment in them - about 3-4 mm.
And there is still plenty of space in there for more.
I reckon you could leave them in for 100k km as long as you change the full flow spin on filter regularly.
The centrifugal is a by pass filter.

What he said. I was talking to one of the design engineers who thought the service interval on a LR was too frequent for the centrifuge. However unlike the other filters on a vehicle it won't do any harm to change the centrifuge more frequently.

I wouldn't suggest leaving it for 100k km though.
