It is in the big black box hanging off the firewall inside the engine compartment, on the right hand side of the firewall as you look from the front of the vehicle.
Cheers, Mick.
I mean the fan that operates from the slider on the LHS of the binnacle - used for the windscreen "demister"
How does one get to it to repair / replace it ?
The Defender I am buying has one that is electrically not working and possibly burnt out.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

So to check / replace fan it can be done from engine side, no need to remove dash etc?
There is a bit of rust adjacent to the 'black box' (which I am getting fixed) so I'll see if that extends further behind the box.

The fan and motor assembly bolt to the inlet on the left side of the heater box. Remove the few nuts from the studs to lift the fan and motor out.
The inlet for the fan runs under the left wing and this fills with rain water that is cunningly designed to fill the fan motor
The rain water also mists up the windscreen when you run the system on de-mist, which is also very cunning
