Mounting fridge in the cab of a 130?

    I have a 40l Engel fridge.

As I want to retain seats on either side of the vehicle in the rear (for mates when hunting) my idea was tp replace the double seat with a single and mount the fridge in between the seats.

In an old thread, camel landy said

Mine is mounted in the rear between the two rear passenger seats.
I've replaced the rears for the Exmoor Trim seats with 3x individual seats in the rear rather than the 60/40 split. The middle seat I've removed and have mounted the Engel quick release base to the seat frame into which the fridge slots into place.
First question arising from that I suppose is - what's an "Engel quick release base" ? Never heard of one. From further reading I believe it may also be called a slide-lock? Not sure.

I can envisage some hassles when camping in access ot fridge (have toclimb inteh vehicle each time) but this can probbaly be gotten around by removing the fridge (could be a heavy bugger when full though) and running it on an extension cord via the dual battery system.

    Thoughts?

In relation to the seating issue - is it easy / legal to swap a doubel seat over for a single, in regards to how the seats are mounted? Anyone done this ?

    Ta.

Do the seat backs fold down?

If so what I did in my disco was to sit the fridge on back of the folded down narrow seat. I strapped it down to the seat frame to secure it. This depends on how flat the back of the seat is and whether two mates are comfortable on the remaining seat. Easier to get to the fridge as well.

There won't be legality issues either.

You could just put it to one side and make the mates sit next to each other. Climbing in all the time or even leaning in will become tiresome fairly quickly. Moving when it's full is also impractical.

Yeah but I need to be able to have people able to shoot out of each side IF necessary.

The fact the windows don't go all the way down could be problematic though.....

Can you compromise on size and replace the cubby in the front?

I'd like to keep the cubby in the front, and I dont like those evaporative fridges - dont work so well up here in the humidity.

It's not evaporative, its compressor (Waeco CDF-11). I've had mine running virtually 24/7 for about 5 years - no problems so far.

Anyway - no good to you if you want to keep the cubby.

Towe have you used it as a freezer. I'm looking at the same deal but in the back as a freezer. Great little unit from all reports.

I mostly use it as a drinks fridge set to 2 deg, I have cranked down once for ice creams, but it was a once off, so can't really comment on performance as a freezer
