    Question

Well, the "Day" has finally come,...we will be taking delivery of "Gracie" from ULR at 11.00am tomorow. Wifey is very excited.
Just one thing. We will be going to Adelaide next week, we always make a "trip" of it, from Melbourne going up through the Goldfields to stay the night at one of our favourite destinations Wycheproof, then on to Berri for another night, then on to Adelaide, & we come back the same way. Just over 2000ks round trip.
With the Defender being so new, we're just wondering that with the things you hear about new Pumas, turbo hoses coming off etc, and with my totally "inept" mechanical ability, whether it might be wise not to take Gracie, and rather wait until we've done a few thousand Ks, before "heading Off"?
I'd hate to get "stranded" in the Mallee, miles from anywhere?
    Cheers, Pickles.

    Awesome news mate.
    Enjoy your road trip.
I'd give the dealer a call and make sure they check the turbo hose fittings.

The excitement is definately a defender thing.
Two years ago we bought a new hyundai and I wasn't excited for one second. When I bought my defender, I just couldn't wait to pick it up and her home.

When you get back, send me an email through LROCV with all your vehicle details as I am the defender & county registrar.
Hopefully catch up on a club trip.
I'll be organising more defender/county trips next year.

    Cheers
    Mick

Do the new defenders have a 1k service requirement?

Well, I reckon they should, but if I remember rightly from my discussion with the guy doing the P/D, I think the first time they want to see it is at 12000k first service, which I thought was unusual, the last two cars we bought have been required for a "check" at around the one month/3K mark.
"Landy", Thanks, there are a few good colours, but we just liked the "olde/worlde" look of Keswick, but I don't think it's really one of the popular colours, even in the U.K.
    Cheers, Pickles.

Mine didn't ,first service at 6 months. and after 10 months and 15,000 klms turbo hose still hasn't fallen off. Just check your oils levels, grab the spare bolts and nuts off the floor that they so nicely supply for later use. and drive..

No hose related probs on our MY13 90 either, the service guy at MLR said it has been resolved now but I think that is still up for debate around here. Ours hasn't skipped a beat since we picked it up in Feb - apart from some on the high side fuel consumption figures.

I would have liked to have a 1k check up, had it with nearly every other new car we've ever bought but told not to bring it back before 20k, in fact MLR pretty much refused (!) to service it when I asked them to do it at 16k

I'd say take the new 90 unless you have a must-be-here-at style timetable, road trip is a great way to get a feel for the new truck & LR assist are always there to bail you out after all!

And congrats too, we'll be signing up to LROCV in the new year, hope to see you out and about around Mel.

I just had mine serviced at 1k, didn't ask if needed or not. Good to get rid of the run-in oil early - i wouldn't entertain the thought of leaving it in their for that long (12k), unless LR run in the engine on a dyno

I bought my new 110 November last year. They wanted to see it after 1500 kms for a post sales check and they also did a wheel alignment (I didn't ask for one).
