Didn't mean they use a specific run in oil, rather the oil that's got all the swarf in it...

Fresh oil is fresh oil and I've seen what comes out of engines at the first change and the less time that craps floating around in there the better :p

Think that's what Tombie is saying the car, engine and the oil gets a shake down and run on the assembly line once assembled

Hmmm k, I'm getting a little lost here fellas, what part of any of this goes to changing the oil early not being good practice?

Wasteful practice in modern engines.

And if the company had the slightest concern that swarf was running around something they have to warranty for 3yrs / 100k they would change it :)

Std practise 20 yrs ago was oil at 3k...

Manufacturing techniques, line running tests etc are far different. It's run on the bench with an oil feed, then shaken down at the end of the line.

Filtration takes care of the rest...

OK, each to their own - I know what came out of my Deefer motor though (and other new engines I've done the same to).
