    Yet another tyre Q re 265/75 16 on 130

Is anyine running 265/75 R16 tyres on a defender, if so, what wheel offset etc and any fouling problems?
I'm looking to upgrade to something different to my 7.50/16 tyres for both the general high-country use and a Kimberley trip next year.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to lift the box setup on the 130 a few inches to do this, as the tyres already rub on the underside of it when articulating. Just wondering if these tyres are going to be suitable.

G'day pod , I run 265x75x16s on my 110 wagon . This is the second set that I've had . I first put them on Disco rims , I thought they were fine , then I noticed after an off rd. trip they had been rubbing on the upper spring cups on the rear wearing the inside of the tyre , So I brought a set of 20mm offsets ,and fixed the problem , also gives wider track , It cost a bit , but I am very pleased I went down that rd. Also to add they just come inside the guards keeping It legal . cheers jimr1

Im on my 4th set of 265/75/16 on my 110, yes they touch the top of the rear spring mount and rub the paint off but thats only at full articulation so no damage, im on disco alloys

This rubbing has been discussed on the other tyre thread – what does one have to be doing to achieve ‘full articulation’? Presume this would be at v low speeds and therefore how much of a problem is it?

The nobbles on the side of my KM2’s are pretty aggressive!

Yep, it's basically a low-range issue and does little to no damage (to your tyres or the truck).

It is probably why 265/75R16 are an option on Defender 90's but not on the 110 or 130 with their larger diameter rear springs.

If the tyres rub anywhere it will not comply with the ADR's, so Land Rover can't put 265/75R16's on the 110 or 130.

Thanks for the replies; I plan to use disco steel rims but I'll be modifying the offset, from what I've read elsewhere on here zero offset seems to be the go, so that should reduce the inside rubbing.

    Pod,
Are you aware that Disco 1 steelies don't have the load rating for a 130?

I ran them for a long time with 0 offset rims and no rubbing so you should be fine.

Yes I'm aware they are not rated for the GVM of the 130, but would think there is no way I will ever run my vehicle at anything close to GVM.
